SPWLA KFUPM Student Chapter
Saudi Arabia Chapter of The Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA-SAC) worked hard to have an official body of the international organization in King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). The first initiative was taken by Rami M. Alloush (Ph.D. student at the university) in June 2017, and was received with tremendous support and encouragement from Dr. Tareq AlGhamdi (2017 SPWLA SAC President). The SPWLA KFUPM Student Chapter formed his own bylaws and committee to create a proper medium for the students to conduct varies activities for knowledge sharing, training and development.
2017 SPWLA-SAC Student Research Award
In August 2017, the first activity of the newly created chapter was announced: “2017 SPWLA-SAC Student Research Award”, a contest that encourages students to do research in Petrophysics. The current industry’s dynamic environment provides an excellent opportunity to promote research and academic work for effective resources exploration, optimal reservoir development, and accurate reservoir surveillance. These topics among others were set as the general themes for the students research. The final phase of the competition should take place by the end of 2017 where Monetary Awards will be given to the top presenters within each category.
